Creatives Survey

Thank you to all our local creatives who filled out the arts survey. We had more than a 50% response rate, which, statistically speaking, is GREAT. We'll be looking over your responses in the next weeks and coming up with the best way to share results with you and the Town. Thanks!

"Cohesive and Visible"

We heard the words "cohesive" and "visible" a lot at the Artists Happy Hour event. Part of the WAI's mission is to pull people together and create a collective voice for the arts.

Step One: gathering info about the arts scene. We've sent this survey out to 150 local creatives this week. If you weren't on that list and should've been, contact us at warrencreatives@yahoo.com. And, here's a link to the survey. We need it back by June 30th! Don't let the opportunity pass without weighing in!

Artists' Happy Hour Was Amazing!

Chris Zingg from In Your Ear Music takes a shot of William Schaff.

WOW. Last week's Artists' Happy Hour event was great success. 90 people - creatives of all disciplines - mixed, mingled, ate, drank, looked at art made by folks at Top Drawer Art, listened to some wonderful speakers and enjoyed music by Allysen Callery.
RISCA Exec Director Randy Rosenbaum addressing the crowd.

Keri Cronin, on behalf of the Warren Arts Initiative (WAI) spoke about our mission statement and shared some news about local artists (we'll recap that in our next post.) Randy Rosenbaum, Executive Director of RI State Council for the Arts, talked about Warren's tax-free arts district and gave a mini-grant presentation. (Stay tuned for more in-depth grant presentation.) He praised the turnout saying, "Rarely do I see this kind of engagement on the community level." Town Councilman Davison Bolster said he "felt emotional" seeing years of working for the arts coming to fruition in front of his eyes. And, finally, Tom McAleer, founder of Top Drawer Art, spoke about the work they do and the importance of community involvement.

Many thanks to our awesome sponsors - Parker Mills for supplying the drinks, Tom's Market for the food, The B.R.A.S.S. for hosting us and Don's Art Shop for supplying the door prize. Also, shout outs to Clark at Cutler Mills for the ginormous bulletin board we used, MUSE and Wooden Midshipman for the use of the sandwich boards, and Georgia Cronin for bartending.
Yummy food donated by Tom's Market.

In the next couple weeks we'll be working on our Creatives Directory and sending out surveys to collect data on Warren's art scene. If you haven't yet given us your info, please send an email to warrencreatives@yahoo.com.
